Testosterone is a sex hormone produced mainly in men, but also in women. It effects sexual drive and function as well as sexual and nonsexual characteristics (muscle mass, deepness of voice, hair growth patterns, etc). This test measures total testosterone and free testosterone levels in your blood.
Please allow 5-7 business days for the results of this test. If an initial testosterone is significantly high, the lab may conduct retesting, which would delay reporting by several more days.
Preparation: No special preparation is required for you with this blood test. As with any blood draw, it is a good practice to drink water in advance so you are well hydrated.
If using a testosterone cream please be sure you have not rubbed any into the antecubital area of your arm for the last 24 hours as it can give elevated results.
Please be advised, that our services are strictly self pay and are not eligible for submission as a claim to your health insurance provider. However, you can submit the receipt for reimbursement to many Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts for reimbursement.
